Capital Refractories Inc. was proud to sponsor two USSSA All-Stars youth girls’ fast-pitch softball teams. Chris Dockery of Capital Refractories Inc. was assistant coach of the Hoover Diamonds team which included his daughter, Mackenzie.

After months of regular season play, both teams practiced and played 6 days a week for over six weeks for this tournament. The U6 Hoover Diamonds, who began the season at the bottom of the rankings, went undefeated and had an amazing comeback in the final game for the championship. The team was down by five runs and had two outs, but the girls were able to score six runs to clench the State Championship title. The Hoover Diamonds were ranked number one in the nation.

The Hoover Fireballs U8 team also worked very hard and placed an impressive third in the state, in this highly competitive age group. John York, of Capital Refractories Inc. was proud to see his daughter, Katrina, pitch for The Hoover Fireballs.
