Introduction

CIC specialise in making precision ceramic cores which are used during invesment casting to create internal cavities. After casting the core, by virtue of being based on silica, can be readily removed by dissolving in caustic soda. Many industries can make use of such parts. They allow gas turbine engine blades and vanes to be cast with complex cooling passages, which allow engines to operate at higher temperatures that mean a greater efficiency. They are also used to create precision parts for automotive and medical industries.
CIC is based in Corby, UK, and has been part of the Capital Refractories Group since the beginning of 2007. Increased investment has enabled the recruitment of engineers, development of facilities and purchase of high-tech equipment including new CNC and CMM machines. Capital staff have joined forces with the existing team to provide a range of support including quality assurance, quality testing and research and development in conjunction with Capital's highly experienced ceramicists.
